Murphy Cove

Part of the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Murphy Cove is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Murphy Cove is very car friendly. It is especially convenient to find a parking spot. Many of the houses for sale in this part of the municipality are located in areas that are not very well-suited for those who travel by foot because meeting daily needs is very impractical. The bike is a quite bad mode of transportation in Murphy Cove as there are very few bike lanes, and there are a fair number of hills to challenge cyclists.

Services

Murphy Cove does not have any high schools or primary schools. When it comes to food, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is required to shop for groceries.

Character

The character of Murphy Cove is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. Murphy Cove is reasonably quiet overall, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Public green spaces aren't well-distributed, resulting in them being very difficult to reach from the majority of locations within the community.

Housing

Homeowners occupy nearly 90% of the dwellings in the community and 10% are rented. In this part of the municipality, the overwhelming majority of buildings are single detached homes, while the remainder are mainly mobile homes. Roughly one third of properties in this community were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
