On the other hand, getting around by transit can be challenging in this part of Hamilton by reason of the infrequent service. Nonetheless, the former municipality is connected by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most residences. Cycling is at times difficult in this part of the city as the bicycling network is rather limited, and there are a fair number of elevation changes. It is also occasionally difficult for pedestrians to move around in Stoney Creek as few day-to-day needs can be met by walking.

A small variety of restaurants and cafes can be found as well.

People who prefer a relaxed environment will enjoy Stoney Creek. The noise levels in this area are especially low, as the streets tend to be very tranquil. Finally, there are over 50 public green spaces close by for residents to enjoy, like Oakridge/Lindsay Open Space and Valley Park, which makes them easy to get to.

Housing

Roughly 30% of properties in Stoney Creek were constructed following the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. In this part of Hamilton, around 60% of dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest of the houses are mainly large apartment buildings.
