City Centre

The neighbourhood of City Centre is located within the city of Pickering, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

City Centre affords homeowners several alternative means of transportation. Owing to Pickering on the Lakeshore East, and about 10 nearby bus lines, commuting by public transit is convenient in this neighbourhood. City Centre is also reasonably well-suited for walking; running common errands is convenient, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Despite the fact that bicycling is more practical in some sectors than others, biking is at times challenging in this part of Pickering because the bicycling infrastructure is sometimes poor, and there are a good number of elevation changes.

Services

House buyers in this area will value that a grocery store is always only a short walk away. Moreover, there is often a restaurant or cafe just around the corner. It is also a rather short walk to a reasonable variety of clothing stores. In terms of education, families will appreciate the proximity to daycares and primary schools, which are within walking distance from most, if not all, properties for sale in this part of the city. In contrast, City Centre does not have any high schools.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a slower-paced ambience will enjoy City Centre. City Centre is quiet, as the streets are tranquil - although that is not the case closer to Highway 401 or one of the railway lines. Even though the atmosphere is not the most lively in this neighbourhood, its busier streets are still quite energetic. Public green spaces aren't well-situated, which makes them very difficult to reach.

Housing

In City Centre, around two thirds of dwellings are large apartment buildings, while the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. This neighbourhood did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new homes in this neighbourhood was spread throughout several decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 70% of the dwellings in City Centre and 30% are rented.
